You would be surprised at the number of people I have seen at Ngurah Rai International Airport walking around asking people for money simply because they have spent all their money

This is now done electronically, search for eVOA. In addition you need to complete your customs arrival form on line prior to landing at Denpassar Airport.

Bali Departure tax, also known as Bali Airport Tax, was a fee that was charged for travellers leaving the island through Denpasar International Airport. The fee was payable by everyone departing Bali from the airport, locals and foreigners alike.

Answer 31 of 42: Currently Indonesian airports have passenger service fees (departure tax) charged separately to the ticket. It is sometimes paid (in cash) at the check-in desk, other times at a booth or counter (loket) on the way into the departures hall.
When you click on taxes for the return of the journey the cost is divided up. From Brisbane for example it is a TOTAL of $50.73 per person. This is divided up as follows: Safety and security $3.20. AU international passenger SC $27.53. and Passenger service charge $20. There is no paying a departure tax in Bali at the airport on departure anymore.
